CCTV Test Monitor

A CCTV test monitor is a device commonly used by CCTV installers and electricians during surveillance system installations when they need to mount, test, and focus a security camera.  CCTV test monitors, also known as portable CCTV monitors are incredibly convenient because they enable one installer to perform the camera mount and focus.  Typically, and without the use of a test monitor, mounting and focusing a surveillance camera requires two installers: one to adjust the camera and the other to be watching a monitor back at the location of the recorder.  Furthermore, it is always a challenge for the two installers to communicate with each other because the DVR and the camera being mounted are typically not in the same room, so many installers rely on cell phone communication when mounting and back focusing cameras.

There are many test monitors available on the market and as with any electronic device, some are built better and perform better than others.  Below are two models that we have tested and found to perform very well that are supplied by CCTV Camera Pros and range in price from $129.99 to $299.99.  Both of these products are available for purchase on this page: Portable CCTV test & service monitors.

Theme Park Surveillance Systems

Surveillance systems are becoming more evident and useful in theme parks throughout the USA and the rest of the world.  Well known theme parks such as those owned by Six Flags in the United States are relying on the use of video surveillance systems not only for security but also to improve their operations.  With the fast pace of technology in both park attractions and surveillance systems, the fit is becoming increasingly more significant.  Both the visitors and the security staff may reap the benefits of modern CCTV or IP based surveillance in an amusement park setting.  Some of the major applications of surveillance being used in amusement venues are:

  • Visitor traffic monitoring
  • Production video recording
  • Rider Safety
  • Child Safety
  • Property Theft
  • Tampering & Vandalism
  • Insurance liabilities

Surveillance Cameras for Visitor traffic monitoring

Park management and security personnel can visualize visitor traffic patterns to see which attractions are most popular or determine if there are bottlenecks in the flow of visitors through the park.  This can later help with fire safety evacuation routes or if more restrooms/concessions are required in certain areas.

Surveillance Cameras for Production Video Recording

Record your memories of a great day of fun.  Some parks utilize security cameras to record visitors throughout their journey.

Video Surveillance for Rider Safety

CCTV surveillance can help with various aspects of safety for major attractions or rides.  Cameras in the appropriate place can help the ride’s operators see that ALL riders are safely seated and not in harm’s way before the ride ever begins.   The eyes in the sky can then accompany in the progress of the ride to ensure that visitors remain seated and are observing any other safety regulations.

Security Cameras for Child Safety

There is always a concern about children getting lost or even worse, abducted in the large concentrated traffic of amusement parks.  CCTV Surveillance can help find children who have strayed or catch suspicious behavior of would be predators.

CCTV Cameras Monitor Property Theft

Visitors’ cameras and personal items can be watched over.  Gift stores, souvenir shops and food courts can be monitored as well, to protect the park’s interests.

Security Cameras Protect Against Tampering and Vandalism

Park security can greatly deter any tampering with rides and equipment.  Graffiti and vandalism can be reduced by the presence of cameras or capture the evidence to prosecute offenders.

Use Surveillance Systems to Mitigate Insurance Liabilities

Accidents, injuries, negligence and recklessness are all going to happen no matter where people (and lawyers) are present.  Security cameras can help to capture the entire goings on to protect all Amusement Park patrons, security personnel and management.

Both the public sector of amusement park visitors and the private sect of Park owners and management can enjoy benefits of security camera systems.  Prevention, deterrence and safety are the major issues involved.  Surveillance systems are available for small, temporary carnival sites as well as large, state-of-the-art theme parks.

Skate Park Surveillance Systems & Security Cameras

Skate Park Surveillance

With the growth popularity of inline skating and skate boarding, skate parks have become extremely popular for city and county municipalities to install them inside of parks.  City planners should consider a skate park surveillance system with security cameras when planning and budgeting for skate park projects.  You do not have to search far to find cases of vandalism and unwanted graffiti in skate parks.  A professional surveillance system with security cameras can help deter such activity as well as help prosecute against it in the unfortunate event that it occurs.  A skate park surveillance system can also help document any injuries that occur in the park through video capture and help with any frivilous lawsuit attempts.  The city of Grand Haven skate park is one example of a park that has already installed a surveillance system to monitor activity within their park.

Pre-construction is the ideal time to plan for your system so the cabling can be installed during construction of the park.  This makes running cable underground much easier However, security cameras can also be installed into existing parks.  Surveillance systems used for skate parks and other outdoor park type installations typicall consist of four to sixteen outdoor weatherproof security cameras.  The cameras can be CCTV cameras (closed circuit television) or IP cameras.  The cameras can be mounted to poles in and around the skate park or to other structures where the cameras can be mounted about ten to sixteen feet high.  The digital recorder is the device that records the video to a hard drive so that it can be played back later.  Typically the recorder is located in a nearby office or community center.  If there is not an office located close to the park making it impossible to wire the cameras to the recorder, wireless equipment can be used to transmit the signal distances up to a 3 miles away.  RG59 or RG6 cable is used to connect each security camera to the digital video recorder.  A power supply box can be used to power all of the cameras.  The power supply box can be located near the DVR as long as the cabes do not have to be run longer than 300-400 feet.  If that is not possible the cameras need to be power closer to where they are mounted.  The above image shows some typical equipment used in an outdoor surveillance application such as a skate park.
